MiniTool Partition Wizard is the pioneer of partition software. Unlike other partition manager, MiniTool offers more powerful functions on disk partition management to optimize your disk usage, and protect your data. Home users can perform complicated partition operations by using this powerful but free partition manager to manage their hard disk partition such as Resizing partitions, Copying partitions, Create partition, Delete partition, Format partition, Convert partition, Explore partition, Hide partition, Change drive letter, Set active partition, Convert Dynamic Disk to Basic Disk, Surface Test, Change Partition Serial Number, Change Partition Type ID and Partition Recovery.
Move, resize, merge, split, and format your partitions. Recover deleted partitions, convert from NTFS to the FAT32 file system and from MBR to GPT, migrate OS to SSD, and manage dynamic volumes. Modify the ID or the serial numbers of your partitions, analyze the space, and perform many other operations.
This is a disk and partition management tool that offers you a very comprehensive set of functions for free. Although Windows comes with its own utility to manage your disk partitions, using a program like MiniTool Partition Wizard offers you multiple advantages like a much more friendly user interface, many extra functions and very detailed manuals and tutorials, just to mention some.
The free edition of the program can be used indefinitely for personal and non-commercial use, but its functionality is a bit reduced as compared with the other available editions (Professional, Server, Enterprise and Technician), all of them paid. The feature set offered for free, however, is generally more than enough for standard and even advanced users of Windows, as they can easily create, move, resize, extend, merge, split, delete, format, copy, align and wipe partitions, toggle them between primary and logical, change their type, ID and serial number, and convert their file system between NTFS and FAT. There are also some partition-checking functions available like the file system check and the surface test. In addition, you also have some disk-oriented functions like a MBR disk to GPT disk converter and a partition recovery utility. On top of that, the program comes with some complementary tools you will hardly find in other partition managers, like a wizard to migrate your operating system to another SSD or HDD disk.
As I mentioned above, the program offers a nice and functional user interface where all the available functions are distributed between the left panel and the toolbar located on the top edge of the program’s main window. You will also see a visual map that allows you to select a specific disk or partition, and the list of available functions and tools vary depending on your selection. Besides, the program displays very detailed information about your partitions and disks, like their used and available space, file system, type and current status, information that is always visible on a special panel.
Considering this is a truly free tool, I would recommend any Windows user that looks for an easy and powerful way to manage his/her disks and partitions, installing and trying MiniTool Partition Wizard. Regrettably, there are some offered tools, like the Bootable Media Builder, that will not run in this edition of the program as they are reserved for the paid ones. If you try to run it, you will only see a popup window encouraging your to upgrade to one of the paid editions, however, this is a low price to pay considering all the working functions and tools described above.
